Editing & Post-Processing Workshop

This editing workshop covers everything from Lightroom or Camera Raw basics to advanced techniques in post-processing.

What you’ll need:

Bird Photography Workshop

Perfect for birders and photographers wanting to capture birds in flight, at rest, or interacting with their surroundings. Learn how to work with long lenses, fast focus tracking, and the patience needed to get sharp, well-composed images of often elusive or fast-moving birds. Great for wetlands, reserves, or backyard birding.

What you’ll learn

• Essential bird‑camera settings – dial in the optimal shutter speed, aperture and ISO for fast‑moving or timid species.
• Tracking & autofocus mastery – refine continuous AF modes, eye‑detection where available, and custom focus‑point strategies for erratic flight paths.
• Long‑lens craft – balance reach, stability and hand‑held technique, plus effective use of monopods and gimbal heads.
• Exposure in difficult light – tame high‑contrast plumage and back‑lit wings with spot metering, exposure compensation and histogram checks.
• Fieldcraft & ethical approach – read avian behaviour, maintain respectful distances, and work with hides or natural cover.
• Composition for storytelling – isolate birds against clean backgrounds, use negative space, and anticipate gesture for dynamic frames.
• Use of light & colour – harness golden‑hour glow, overcast skies, and reflections for mood and impact.
• High‑speed & creative techniques – practise panning blurs, intentional motion, and high‑frame‑rate bursts for decisive moments.

• 2 Hour location session – R 2 800 per person. It includes: practical coaching, personalised feedback, Q&A
• Optional editing tuition – R 1 500 per hour. It includes: RAW Workflow, noise reduction, colour correction, and preparing images for web and print.

Requirements

A telephoto lens of at least 300 mm (or equivalent) is recommended.

Wildlife Photography Excursion

Designed for nature lovers and aspiring wildlife photographers. Learn how to track and anticipate animal behaviour, use fast shutter techniques, and compose impactful wildlife images in real-time, often unpredictable situations. Great for those wanting to photograph mammals or wildlife animals in motion and in their natural environment.

You’ll receive 3 hours of training, where you will learn how to get the most out of your equipment and create beautiful wildlife images. Training will be theory and practical, and also include post-processing, where you will edit the images you took and learn to get the most out of your photographs. You will need editing software such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
